My passion lies with Jesus, His Word, and His Bride. My calling in life is to preach the Word in order to magnify Jesus which produces worshippers, disciples, and ultimately missionaries. I believe the local church is God’s vision and strategy to redeem the lost and reconcile communities.

Jesus is the climax of redemptive history and the focus of my preaching and teaching. He is the embodiment of the Kingdom of God and thus is the balm for all of society’s ills. The Bible is how God chooses to communicate with us; therefore, my primary mode of preaching and teaching is to exposit the Scriptures verse-by-verse. We all recognize that the church is imperfect but she is still Jesus’ bride, therefore we should love her and continue to improve and sanctify her. My ultimate goal for Redeemer Church is to see her embrace the Great Commission call for Denton County.

I have been married to Kristen for 21 years, and have been in love with her since I was a student at Calhoun Middle School! I am the proud father of Mason and Kenlee.

Prior to Redeemer Church, I led a small non profit and pastored at churches in Austin and Houston. I am a graduate of the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green). I also hold degrees from Dallas Seminary, Southwestern Seminary, Toronto Baptist Seminary, and Midwestern Seminary. My doctorate is from Southern Seminary in the area of explaining and applying the Old Testament Minor Prophets.

In addition to my role at Redeemer Church, I serve part-time as the Church Planter Catalyst for the Send Network in North Texas (HERE) and as the Church Planter Associate with the Denton Baptist Association (HERE). I am also a certified biblical counselor through the Association of Biblical Counselors and offer free biblical counseling to the Covenant Members and regular attenders of Redeemer Church. However, I also offer counseling to the community through Covenant Biblical Counseling (HERE).

I have contributed two chapters in the Noble Company series on John Pitman (HERE) and Thomas Roberts (HERE). I was able to contribute to GC2 Press’ study on the miracles of Jesus (HERE), their study on the Gospel of Mark (HERE), as well as authoring the Premium Commentary for their Heaven and Angels study (HERE). I have also published a book on Thomas Patient who planted two of the first Irish Baptist churches (HERE). Finally, I recently published a commentary on the Old Testament book of Micah (HERE)
