On Sunday, October 20th, we celebrated the miraculous work of the Lord at a Baptism Service at Redeemer. These services are a sweet reminder of what the Lord has done in the life of each follower of Jesus. The testimony below is from Carter Gasser.

Before Jesus saved me I was sinful. I was mean to my brother and sisters. I thought that I trusted in Jesus but I did not. At first I wanted to be baptized so I could do communion, but I was too scared to talk in front of a lot of strangers. I did not like to go to church but I really wanted to do communion. I knew I had to be baptized for my mom and dad to let me, but I was too afraid of all the people.

One day at the swimming pool I asked my dad if he could just baptize me there. He said I had to understand what baptism means first. I was born in a Christian family but I did not trust in Jesus for myself. I came to know Jesus and trust him a few years ago. In my room, I talked to my mom about Jesus and confessed my sins to Him. Romans 10:9 says, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” I believe that Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins, and conquered death by raising from the dead three days later just like he said he would.

Even though it is sometimes hard to see that God is real, this verse tells me that because I believe, I am saved and will live with Jesus in Heaven forever. Every time I pray to Him I don’t always see Him answer, but I still have faith and trust in Jesus no matter what!
