Baptism is a symbol of the new life believers have in Christ. This is Briella Gasser’s public profession of faith in Jesus from his baptism on Sunday, September 10, 2023
Before I was a Christian, I was a sinner. We are all sinners, but Jesus died on the cross for our sins. This means he took the punishments for our sins so we are forgiven. We didn’t deserve it but he forgave us anyway.
I don’t remember that much of before I believed in Jesus, or when I first asked Jesus into my heart. I just know that this is what I believe. I believe that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus saved me by dying on the cross and raising from the dead. When he came back to life, he defeated death. I know that since he died for me and that I trust in him, that I will go to heaven.
One way I have learned to trust in God more is through my worries. I worry about a lot of things. For a long time, I was too scared to go to my friend’s house or be in a room without my parents. I worried about going to some of my classes or not being able to sleep at night. If I thought about things too much then my belly would hurt. My mom and I started going through a book together that helped me learn how to boss back my worry monster. We prayed a lot together and I learned to trust that God is always with me, even when my mom is not.
Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” I like that verse because it helps me remember not to worry and I can trust God to take care of me. I want to get baptized to show other people that I believe in and trust in Jesus.
