On Sunday, October 20th, we celebrated the miraculous work of the Lord at a Baptism Service at Redeemer. These services are a sweet reminder of what the Lord has done in the life of each follower of Jesus. The testimony below is from Gabriel Smith.
Before Jesus saved me, I was going my own way. I tried to find pleasure in unsatisfying material things and entertainment. I could not find true joy in these things. On my search for true joy, I have grown up in a Christian home. I have learned about Jesus from a very young age from his word and Church. I am so thankful to have learned about God from such an early age.
Over the years I have seen the Holy Spirit working in my heart. Jesus has shown himself to me in many miraculous ways. One of these miraculous signs was on one day that I was struggling with heat exhaustion. I prayed to God for help and he created a perfect plan. When I went to find some cold water, my mom came looking for me because of the Holy Spirit. She brought me to some shade and a medical person showed up right when we needed him. God made everything work out well and showed that he cares about me and is willing to help me. Through God showing himself to me and working in my heart, I have come to trust and believe in the Lord. Knowing the Lord has given me true joy.
Even though I have disobeyed God and sinned many times, God still loves me and he sent his only son so that I can be forgiven and have eternal life with him. I deserve death but instead, Jesus died for my sins so that I can live with him forever. Jesus has saved me from my sins, because he is so gracious and loving. Without God, I would be hopeless to escape the grasp of sin. God is not only gracious and loving, but he is also all powerful. He was able to beat sin and death. If we believe in Jesus and his sacrifice, the Lord lets us become part of his Kingdom. I cannot wait for the Lord to use me to further his Kingdom, to plant seeds, and to help others come to him.
