On Sunday, October 20th, we celebrated the miraculous work of the Lord at a Baptism Service at Redeemer. These services are a sweet reminder of what the Lord has done in the life of each follower of Jesus. The testimony below is from Nathaniel Smith.
God told us His law in the Bible, but I disobeyed God by sinning. I was scared that He would punish me as I deserved. When I sinned, I became separated from God, but I was hopeful that He could help me. I was sorry that I messed up.
Since God is a loving God, He saved me by sending His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment for me. Since Jesus died on the cross for me, I am clean in God’s eyes. Without Jesus’ sacrifice, I wouldn’t be able to go to Heaven and I wouldn’t know my purpose in life.
Now that I know God, He is with me. He helps me learn, He leads me in the right direction, He opens my eyes and softens my heart. He has adopted me as His child.
I think that part of baptism is professing my faith to others. Romans 10:10 says, “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” I am so glad to be here to tell you how God has watered the seed in me into an enormous tree.
