Baptism is a symbol of the new life believers have in Christ. This is Lucas Gasser’s public profession of faith in Jesus from her baptism on Sunday, October 7, 2024.
Before Jesus saved me, I was a sinner. I always went to church and knew about Jesus but one night when I was trying to go to sleep, I decided it would be a good idea to pray. I asked Jesus to help me be more like him and to love other people more than myself. I told Jesus that I was sorry for my sins and asked him to help me love him more. I know we are all sinners and that nobody can be perfect. We can’t get to heaven unless we are perfect because sin can’t be close to heaven since God is holy. We need Jesus to get to heaven. Jesus lived a perfect life and died on the cross for our sins. He rose again and defeated sin and death.
John 5:24 says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” I memorized this verse last year and this is what I believe.
After trusting Jesus I am saved from sin and death. One of my favorite songs is “Graves into Gardens”. I like the part where it says, “You turn graves into gardens, you turn bones into armies, you turn seas into highways, you’re the only one who can!” It tells about the miracles God can do and how powerful He is. While I was having my meeting about getting baptized, right after I told Ms. Camille about this being my favorite song we heard the RSM worship team practicing it in the sanctuary. It was kind of crazy and like God showing His power. I want to be baptized to show other people that I believe the Bible is true and that I want to follow Jesus.
